College Application Essay Camp (Rising Grade 12)

In a competitive admissions landscape, the personal essay is often the one place students can speak directly to a college in their own voice—where an application becomes a real, memorable person by highlighting character, values, growth, and what matters most. This College Application Essay Camp is designed for rising high school seniors who want clear structure, expert guidance, and dedicated time to produce a strong, submission-ready essay. Using a writing workshop approach, students will move step-by-step through brainstorming, choosing a focus, drafting, receiving targeted feedback, revising with purpose, and polishing for clarity, tone, and impact, while learning practical strategies to craft an authentic narrative and refine language so their writing feels confident and uniquely their own. By the end of the camp, students will leave with a completed, polished college application essay—plus tools they can use for supplemental responses and future writing—and enrollment is limited to 12 students per session to ensure individualized support.

Biology can be a challenge! Get a head start with Ms. Pierce and go into the school year confident with this camp designed for rising 10th graders! Biology is a required science course for all students in North Carolina, with a state End of Course Exam in May. This camp will provide a preview of some of the more complex topics that will be covered and include fun, hands-on activities to make them memorable. Topics included are: biochemistry, cell transport, protein synthesis, and heredity. Students will be able to practice questions similar to those found on the Biology EOC, as well as take home a short review packet they can refer to throughout the year for additional help.

Get a head start on high school math success with our Math 1 Prep Camp! Designed specifically for rising 8th graders and rising 9th graders who are enrolled in Math 1 for the 2025-2026 school year, this camp equips students with the foundational skills and confidence needed to excel in Math 1. High school Math 1 teacher, Mr. D, will guide students through key concepts, including algebraic expressions, linear equations, functions, and geometry fundamentals. Campers will engage in hands-on problem-solving, interactive activities, and real-world applications to make learning both fun and effective.

Sharpen your English skills and boost your confidence for the SAT! This engaging and focused camp is designed to help students master the critical reading, grammar, and writing skills needed to excel on these standardized tests. This content is also tested on the ACT.
Led by experienced instructor, participants will dive into key concepts, including grammar rules, sentence structure, punctuation, and effective strategies for understanding complex texts. Students will also learn how to approach rhetorical questions, identify common traps, and manage their time effectively during the exam.

During this camp, we will read the entire novel together and prepare for the test! Don't worry...there won't be any homework and no one will be required to read out loud! Don't worry, we will complete graphic organizers together that you may use to review for the test. A copy of the novel book, Tunes for Bears to Dance To, is included.
